Night and Day door Marialuisa Tadei, 2009
Nacht en dag
(twee zijden van dezelfde schijf) lijkt een impressie van de binnenkant van
fantasie-oogbollen waar ’s nachts de lichtgevoelige staafjes de overhand
hebben – behalve in de gele vlek, daar komen ze niet voor – en waar overdag
de kleurgevoelige kegeltjes de honneurs waarnemen. “My work,” she says, “aims to establish a dialogue
between the seen and unseen aspect of our selves. By establishing a
connection with the viewer, I hope to make the sublime visible.” YSP-info: Taking inspiration from the shapes and
elements found in nature, Marialuisa Tadei creates sculptures that explore
spiritual and symbolic representation. She is interested in opposing states
such as light and heavy, life and death, organic and technological, and the
metaphorical implications they imbue.
Octopus, 2011 Oud modern Tadei gebruikt in
haar werk het oude ambacht van mozaïek leggen. Zelf trekt ze de overeenkomst
tussen de opbouw van een werk uit scherfjes en de huidige opbouw van beeld in
